Video: Barcelona 6 – 0 Leon [Friendly] Highlights
Barcelona have won the Joan Gamper Trophy for the 37th time after beating Mexican outfit Leon 6-0, with the game marked by the debut of summer signing Luis Suarez, who was introduced in the 77th minute.
The former Liverpool striker was allowed to participate in the fixture after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which allowed him to train and play in friendlies for the Catalan giants after his four-month ban from FIFA, originally from all football-related activity, for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring for Barca after just three minutes, turning the ball into the net after Neymar’s cross was deflected into his path.
Neymar then added a further two goals before half-time, chipping in nine minutes later before an outrageous back-heel put his side further ahead just before the interval. Youngster Munir El Haddadi then added a fourth goal in the 55th minute.
One of the biggest cheers of the night, however, was saved for the introduction of Luis Suarez for Rafinha in the 77th minute.
But it was Munir who added the fifth goal, slotting home a square ball from Sandro, who then added the gloss with his own strike in the final seconds of the tie.
