Reports reaching naij.com reveals that the embattled governor of Osun state Ogbeni rauf Aregbesola has promised to pay the workers’ salaries this Friday.
Rauf Aregbesola has explained to workers that efforts are being made to settle the March and April salaries of local government workers and primary school teachers in two days.
The governor promised that he will do everything within his power to ensure the state pays outstanding debts and also try as much as possible to avoid re-occurrence.
The bittered governor said this morning on his facebook page “Greetings, Further efforts are being made to liquidate all the outstanding salaries of Osun Workers. As it stands now State Civil Servants & Secondary Schools Teachers are owed 6 months arrears”.
He explained that though-times wont last and promised to pay all outstanding:
“LGA Workers and Primary School Teachers would get March & April Salaries within the next two days, their own outstanding will be just 2 months by then. Its indeed trying times for us, May God see us through. These tough times won’t last, Awa Omoluabi Osun will outlast these austerity season. Insha Allah! Osun a dara,” he wrote.
Osun state workers have lamented the inability of the state government to pay their salaries running into months, and have accused the embattled governor for spending state’s fund for election campaigns.
