Kaduna State Govt To Increase Scholarship Stipend To Students
The Kaduna State government has disclosed that it would review upward the current scholarship allowance being paid to higher school students across the country.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Dr Shehu Usman Adamu, when officials of the National Association of Kaduna State Students (NAKASS), paid him a visit.
According to him, the current N15, 000 and N9, 000 being paid to science and arts students respectively as scholarship, could not meet the current economic realities in the country.
He said, “the government is making efforts to change the landscape of educational development in the state to properly equip the people with the needed knowledge to contribute to development. The free feeding interventions in primary schools, the free uniforms project for secondary schools, the ongoing renovation in all public schools are all to ensure quality education delivery.
“Now, government is considering increasing scholarship stipends to its students in tertiary institutions across the country so as to carry all students along,“ he noted.
