Police Officers have employed a dramatic method to deal with many hoodlums hiding in many uncanny places in Rivers State.

It was pure drama recently when a group of policemen smoked out criminals from Rumuola Bridge in Port Harcourt.
The policemen on Thursday used teargas to smoke out the criminals from holes in the pillars on which the bridge rests.
Motorists and passersby deserted the area during the operation.
According to Punch Metro, policemen from the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Rivers State Police Command had gathered under the Rumuola Bridge in a commando style, shooting sporadically into the air before moving close to the pillars.
It was gathered that one of the policemen warned the hoodlums to come out from the pillars, which had openings on top of the bridge or risk being shot.
An eyewitness told Southern City News that the suspected hoodlums rushed out of the two pillars when teargas canisters were shot into the holes.
The source, who is a street trader under the Rumuola Bridge, said, “We were here on Thursday and a group of policemen from SARS came in a Hilux van and began to shoot into the air. They went straight to some of the pillars of the bridge.
“One of them, who appeared to be the leader of the team, began to order that those staying inside the pillar holes should come out or he would shoot them if he was forced to climb the pillar,” the source said.
Another eyewitness, Obinna, who is a bus conductor, said nobody was aware that the hoodlums made pillar holes their homes.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Francis Odesanya, said though the command had stepped up the fight against criminality in the state, he had not been briefed on the incident that happened under the Rumuola Bridge.
