Breaking: Mayhem as Police Forcefully disperse Shiite Protesters in Abuja [Video]
There’s pandemonium in the streets of the nation’s capital, Abuja as police have forcefully dispersed protesters.
Residents and pedestrians said they ran for safety as the police fired teargas to disperse the protesters at the Unity Fountain, beside Transcorp hotel.
The chaos saw heavy traffic from Transcorp to as far as Wuse II, with drivers trying to turn back and evade the clash.

The protesters are believed to be Shiites demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who has been detained without trial for over two years.

Monday’s protest comes a few days after heavy crowds took to the streets of Abuja in celebration of Sheikh Inyass.
Residents have been advised to stay away from the Transcorp Hotel/Maitama axis of the city.
