Nigerian Celebrities with Endorsement Deals from Betting Companies

Since the advent of sports betting in Nigeria, the industry has been growing in leaps and bounds, metamorphosing into a multibillion-dollar sector in Nigeria.

There were only a handful of betting companies around in the late 2000s, but that has changed now, with many betting sites now operating in Nigeria.

A recent report revealed that there are about 60 million Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 40 who are actively involved in sports betting.

The market is estimated to be worth around N730 billion annually, with that figure expected to rise even quicker in the next few years given the rapid spread of mobile phone technology and internet penetration.

However, the growth of sports betting in Nigeria is not exclusively down to advancement in technology or increased access to the internet. The industry operators have become very deliberate and creative, trying out different forms of marketing initiatives to get ahead in the flourishing industry.

The betting industry is fraught with different challenges, with competition being one of the biggest worries for the operators.

The new entrants into the business have the herculean task of going head-to-head with the established brands, while the major players like bet9ja are not willing to give up their vantage positions.

The strife for the market share has given rise to more innovative solutions as companies aim to get the competitive edge over their rivals.

One prominent means these companies have taken a liking to is buying into another already thriving industry- the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

Nigerians love and idolize their local celebrities; and betting operators have tapped into this, handing out endorsement deals to several high profile celebrities to help their brand garner more popularity and awareness.

These celebrities have been actively involved in promotional campaigns for betting companies, including starring in television adverts, music production for promotional purposes and other forms of campaigns.

Here are some of popular stars that have been snapped up by betting companies in Nigeria:
